ESL Comes To Tumaini Junior School

Saneme Novela joined Tumaini Junior School earlier this year as the School's first ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher. Even though all classes at Tumaini Junior are taught in English, many students struggle with the transition from their native Swahili tongue to English. Saneme Novela had applied to TEC for a Director position, but when we realized she was trained in ESL, we hired her to bring ESL to Tumaini.

Saneme's home is Durbin, South Africa. She graduated from Rosebank College in 2021 with a BA in Logistics. Saneme commented, " This is my first experience with the Tanzanian people, and their unique cultural customs and tradition have enriched my teaching experience."

Saseme continued, "Teaching grades 3 and 5, known for their stubborn and rowdy demeanors, has been the most challenging aspect of my teaching experience so far. But I strive to build strong relationships with my students, understand their unique needs and provide individualized support to ensure their success."

Working closely with fellow Tumaini educators and parents, Saneme is  contributing to a collaborative learning community to nurture the growth and development of each student at Tumaini Junior School.
